Ethical Artificial Intelligence (AI)
As a company that works with data in many stages of the data lifecycle (creating or collecting, processing, disseminating, using, and storing data), Swain Techs maintains awareness of and participates in the evolving discussion of data  ethics, principles, and policy and regulatory requirements and guidelines. We use the questions in the GSA Center of Excellence Guide to AI Ethics to identify discussion and develop solutions for evaluating and mitigating bias, privacy, and data governance issues, continually rechecking through the design-develop-deploy cycle of our projects to test and confirm our solutions address these issues.
We apply the Federal Data Ethics Tenets drafted by the GSA to all data types and uses, and commit to maintaining and advancing a foundational understanding of the tenets among all of our personnel, in concert with our core values. We reiterate the seven Federal Data Ethics Tenets here:

  1. Be Aware of and Uphold Applicable Statutes, Regulations, Professional Practices, and Ethical Standards
  2. Be Honest and Act with Integrity
  3. Be Accountable and Hold Others Accountable
  4. Be Transparent
  5. Be Informed of Developments in the Field of Data Science, Including with Data Systems, Techniques, and Technologies
  6. Be Respectful of Privacy and Confidentiality
  7. Be Respectful of the Public, Individuals, and Communities
